CARP Albania Featured on National Television

In April, CARP Albania was invited to a national TV station “News 24” as part of a special program to talk about their recent national CARP workshop.

Tirana CARP leader, Majlinda Matraku, Albania CARP leader  Gani Rroshi, Universal Peace Academy graduate, Mica Camara, and CARP Kosovo coordinator, Bafti Krasniqi, spoke on the show.

The whole video is available with subtitles but here are a few excerpts:

Host: Why was your workshop named “Generation of Legends”?

Gani: We wanted to give the message that anyone can become a legendary person if they have big dreams and ambitions to do not only the things that they like but do things for a greater purpose, for the sake of the nation.

Host: “What does it mean for you to be a leader? What are the characteristics of being a leader?”

Bafti: What we need most today is a leadership that starts from character education, a leadership that comes from family values. We in CARP want to promote that kind of leadership that starts from the heart. CARP Albania had been preparing for this national workshop with great anticipation and investment.

Preparations began with the core staff members coming together through conference calls online to create a working plan. As progress was made, the core staff members from different regions in Albania all gathered in person to further discuss plans and details.

The first thing that was decided was the theme of the workshop, “The Generation Of Legends.” Why did we choose this theme? It stemmed from our desire to have all the participants appreciate and understand this legendary age that we are living in. The founders, Rev. and Mrs. Moon, have invested a lot in the future of the younger generation. They have encouraged Albania to train and raise up 2000 young people who can take responsibility for the moral prosperity of the nation. The founders, lovingly called True Parents because of the care and love that they have invested into the young people just like parents, have stated that, “At every turning point in history, young people were responsible for change.”

Thanks to the vested efforts of the core staff and members all over Albania, a surprisingly large number of people applied to participate in this workshop. 210 participants had applied but unfortunately, due to the limited capacity of our Training Center, only 180 of those applicants were accepted. The staff had the difficult task of limiting the number of participants but they have been keeping in touch with all those who could not make it this time. They have already invited them to participate in other upcoming workshops.

In order to create a family-like environment, participants were put into ‘families’ of about 20 people. These twenty people on your team becomes your family for the next two days and beyond. This creates an atmosphere conducive to friendly bonds and caring for each other. Lectures offered both good theoretical content and practical steps that can be taken to become better people. Some of the topics covered were: ‘My Value’, ‘Conflict and Solution’, ‘Team Work and Core Values’, ‘Friendship and Family’, ‘Communication’ and a presentation on CARP.

Lastly, a challenge game was organized in the beautiful nature, a usual treat that participants look forward to at these CARP workshops. Everyone really enjoyed it.

Thank You Letter from Japan Exchange Trip Coordinator

In the course of just 10 days, student delegates of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) USA traveled throughout Japan to meet with their CARP Japan and CARP Korea peers, with whom they made pilgrimage to significant landmarks from True Father’s time as a student in Japan.

Having recently returned, the primary facilitator and organizer of the trip, Mrs. Naoko Hiraki of CARP Los Angeles, reflected in a letter on CARP USA’s brief but deeply meaningful time abroad.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Thank you so much for your support and prayers. We came back from Japan after having wonderful experiences there. Everyone from America felt great love from our Heavenly Parent and True Parents. We especially felt True Mother’s heart in all that we did.

One of our young, first-generation Unificationists, Jermaine, said, “I thought that I had faith in God and True Parents before, but after coming to Japan and meeting Japanese CARP members, my faith became stronger and more real. Now, every day I feel that True Parents’ spirit is always with me.”

When Jermaine heard of True Mother’s address to Kumamoto Unificationists in the wake of the earthquakes that struck that region this past April, he shared with me: “True Mother has worked through so many difficulties. True Mother has experienced so much pain due to her position, but despite that, True Mother always returned grace and appreciation to God and True Father. She is my hero.”

Testifying about his experience in doing outreach, another CARP USA student reflected, “When I tried to speak about our faith in Japan, it felt like everybody refused to listen to me. Some people ran away before I could even say anything. But I continued to reach out and talk to people. Eventually two high school students stopped and responded to my questions, but they were busy so we could not speak together for long. Still, I determined to keep reaching out.

Then one man stopped and kindly spoke with me. I tried to speak in Japanese because I wanted to connect with him more deeply, but in the end I couldn’t. I was so disappointed in myself. That’s when I thought of the many missionaries who had come from Japan to America to share God’s word, even though they could not speak English. It must have been so hard, and I wonder how they must have felt at that time. Through these experiences, I have learned to appreciate the nation of Japan.”

Clearly, the American CARP members learned a lot about faith from the Japanese CARP members and the Japanese Unificationist elders who met with us, such as Mrs. Uchida and Rev. Otsuka.

Also J-CARP (CARP Japan) and even K-CARP (CARP Korea) members received a lot of hope, listening to the testimonies of CARP USA members at a J-CARP meeting for parents. At the meeting I introduced our group and explained why we had come to Japan, and my daughter, Hitoe, spoke about doing outreach together with me on her campus. She said, ”Even though we faced difficulties, we wanted to give back beauty to True Mother.”

Jermaine also said, “Through listening to Hyo Jin Moon’s music, I overcame my struggles and found faith in True Parents. I was looking for true love, but I almost gave up. At that time I met Naoko, and through reading Divine Principle, and especially through listening to Hyo Jin Moon’s music, I began to have a strong faith and hope for a true family. For me, even though we are from different countries, we are all brothers and sisters, because we are working for God and True Parents. No matter what struggles you face, don’t give up because someday you will meet someone like me who really needs to hear what you have to say about God. Never give up!”

Many Japanese parents and CARP members were crying, because they were so moved by his testimony. Many members of CARP USA became close friends during our stay in Japan, even students from different states. So we accomplished our mission. I put some pictures on the CARP Life Facebook page which we took at our meetings with J-CARP parents and with CARP Kyoto, as well as at our visit to Hyo Jin Moon’s studio and Waseda University together with J-CARP and K-CARP students. Thank you so much, Heavenly Parent and True Parents. I feel that we have been totally guided by God and True Parents. Thank you so much for your support.

God bless you!

Sincerely, Naoko Hiraki

CARP Korea Japan America Student Conference 2016

6/4-5 CARP Korea Japan America Student Conference 2016

The two-day conference launched off with an inspiring and high-spirited opening ceremony. With students from Korea, America and Japan all gathered in one room, we could already feel the global spirit and significance of the next two days. The three CARP presidents were invited up onto the stage together to give a few opening remarks and encouragements. They all spoke about the vision of True Parents to unify the whole world and encouraged us to use this international conference as an opportunity to develop deep bonds with our peers from other countries. It was very inspiring to see the next generation of leaders from Japan, Korea and America all standing on the stage together, making a determination to work in concert toward the same vision and goal.

Strategic Leadership Meeting for ‘Youth and Students’ & Disneyland

6/2-3 Update

On this day, the group went to Osaka and then visited the Manhattan Center Japan (MCJ), a studio that Hyo Jin Moon started using in 2006. We looked around the museum about Hyo Jin Moon’s life and listened to a short explanation about the place. Hyo Jin Moon had instructed that all the equipment had to be of top quality. He would emphasize that becoming number 1 is important because if you want to change the world, number 2 won’t do. That is why he insisted on number 1 equipment in order to create the best kind of music. He created and dedicated his music to True Parents. We then had a chance to hear several pieces of the Hyo Jin Band with high quality speakers.
