CARP Hawaii Joins the Kulio’ou Ridge Trail Restoration

Contributed by Rena Saito

Six CARP Hawai’i leaders and members supported a local non-profit called Aloha Tree Alliance. They are “dedicated to mitigating climate change [by initiating and supporting] environmental projects to advance resilient forest ecosystems and food security for Hawai’i.” In total there were 46 participants and we planted 120 native trees and shrubs! It was a great success!

The CARP students learned how to plant native plants from one of the leaders named Kanoa. The CARP students had a great time and are planning to continue supporting the Aloha Tree Alliance. One of the major issues in Hawai’i is environmental sustainability. CARP will continue supporting the efforts of the natives in restoring their aina (land).
