The third HyoJeong Conference hosted by CARP America, Korea, and Japan took place on Friday, November 13th (November 14th in Korea and Japan) . For the first time, the third HyoJeong Conference went live on their newly launched Facebook page attracting about 1000 viewers. It’s still available for rewatch on Facebook. The Conference, initiated in August, is creating the space for young people to engage with understanding and advocating for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
The vision for a unified Korea comes from CARP Founders, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, who after living through the painful division of their country and the militant ways of the communists, dedicated their lives to world peace.
True peace, they argued, can only come from God and unconditional love, and a unified Korea based on the values of interdependence, mutual prosperity, and universal values would be the center point for global, lasting peace.
During the conference, some of Father and Mother Moon’s work toward unifying Korea, combating communist influence throughout the world, and promoting cooperation of different nations and religions was shown in a video montage.
We were extremely privileged to host former US Representative, Honorable Dan Burton, for his remarks on the situation in Korea, the problem of communism, and the role young people can play in supporting a world of peace.
“And for every one of you young people who are listening today, I was in Congress as Mike said for 30 years, and I have been convinced every single year I was in Congress that the one guiding principle and governing factor in America that made us free and strong was a firm belief in a Supreme Being and God Almighty…The first step is to believe in God. Have a strong faith and do everything you can to make sure that you share that faith with everyone you meet to make sure that that strength spreads.” - Hon. Dan Burton
Following that, student presenter Ori Rodriguez, CARP Fullerton President, gave a speech on the dangers of communism and how that relates to the delicate situation on the Korean peninsula.
Final guest speaker was Mr. Song Gwang-suk, Chairman of the National Rally of the North-South Unification movement, who shared about the Peace Road project and the different initiatives toward making peace on the Korean peninsula.
Another highlight from the Conference was our special guest performances from the Soul Children of Chicago, B. Slade, and Kanye West (courtesy of City of Refuge).
