CARP DMV October highlights

After getting started this semester, CARP DMV, located on University of Maryland and Montgomery College campuses, implemented weekly meetings and held their first two retreats. This report covers some of their highlights.

Weekly Give and Take

Every week, the CARP members go on campus at University of Maryland to invite students to join our meetings and discover more about CARP.

New and returning guests came to our G&T weekly meeting to discuss different topics, like how we can be truly happy. From our engaging conversations students came to the conclusion that we need to live our lives for the sake of others.

Our First One-Day Seminar

On October 24tth, we hosted a one day Principle Seminar. Two guests were able to come and attend the whole seminar. They felt the environment of love we created and felt really comfortable with us. Through the lectures, group discussion and overall atmosphere, we were able to bring in the presence of God.

Collaboration with the Community

We held our first two day seminar the following week at the end of October at The Washington Times. Experienced lecturers, Larry Moffit, Henri Schauffler, and Beverly Berndt, and a couple of our own, Connor Redmond and Tetsuya Nomura), gave the presentations.

This seminar brought together multiple generations, CARP, and the larger DMV community, so we can confidently say that, together, we are building an environment where people feel loved and embraced in God’s divine love. Four new guests attended. We hope to be able to follow up with them and keep them connected to CARP.

We want to express our deep gratitude to all the support we received and we look forward to holding the next seminar!

“Over the course of this semester, I was reading Mother Moon’s Memoir with someone I met on campus and being able to bring him to the seminar was amazing. He found much of the content intriguing. I’m glad to have the support of our elders to answer his questions and also grateful for the support of my brothers and sisters of this community.” - Risako Yonetani
