This semester, CARP has been taking every opportunity to reach out to their members and dig deeper into studying the Principles taught and modeled by Founders, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, affectionately known as Father and Mother Moon. Using virtual means and a lot of heart, CARP all over the nation has taken great strides in keeping #conversationsthatmatter going.
CARP LA took one step further this semester. Using their curriculum which they developed out of the Principles of Creation chapter from Divine Principle, CARP LA has been teaching their members about the reality of God as Heavenly Parent and how we are meant to live and relate with God.
Inspired by this resource and the success it has had with their members, National CARP invited CARP LA to share their curriculum with all CARP leaders across the country. Starting from April 21, CARP leaders began a daily prayer condition and study of CARP LA’s curriculum to better teach the principles Father and Mother Moon desire all young people to become champions of.
In addition, CARP LA continues their own education on Saturdays, going further into Principle with CARP Mentor and Alumni, Naoko Hiraki. This past week, she taught the proper way of relationship between leaders and their followers: how to lead and follow with heart. From CARP LA’s ten chapters, 41 participants attended this training.
On weekdays, CARP LA chapters host their weekly CARP talks and are lovingly joined by their advisors.
“As a new member of CARP I was able to grasp the importance of living a meaningful life, to be of service to others, and a broader perspective of God and God’s love.” - new CARP member
For the sake of their chapters, their members, and their faculty advisors, CARP LA leaders participate in a daily morning prayer call. They also include prayer for the current pandemic situation, for everyone’s safety, and for the safe return of normal life. This offering, while not a major activity, is part of CARP LA’s investment in taking care of their chapters and their communities.
CARP LA also continues their personal Principle study with mentors and members. They learn how Father Moon lived as he discovered and lived these principles; they also learn how to deepen their relationship with Heavenly Parent. In total, 82 people are participating in this study.
Finally, CARP LA teamed up with American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC). Joined by CARP friend and pastor, Bishop Noel Jones, ACLC hosts weekly True Family Values Seminars. Last week, 14 pastors attended. CARP LA’s presence added a young energy and an eagerness to learn from these pastors, creating an intergenerational, familial atmosphere.
While we continue to traverse the many unknowns of 2020, CARP LA and chapters all over the nation will continue to create spaces for students to grow and learn. Stay tuned for more updates from CARP LA!
