Returning to My First Promise

Returning to My First Promise

It’s the middle of the night.

You let out a deep sigh as a lonesome tear rolls down your cheek.

“Why did I even decide to do this?” sniffling, you ask yourself.

You feel exhausted, worn out and daunted by the pressure of the lofty goal ahead of you.

Can you do it?

Can you accomplish what your heart is calling you to do?

I understand. I’ve been there. We all have.

Becoming the Person I Was Always Meant to Be

Becoming the Person I Was Always Meant to Be

Hi! My name is María Elena Barragan. I’m currently studying at Chabot College seeking to transfer to a four-year school, and my major is Aerospace Engineering. Besides that, I’m working full-time as a security guard at Pinterest and doing CARP part-time. I love studying about space and the universe, singing, going to the movies or the beach, and blogging online. I have three beautiful sisters who are my best friends :)

Overtaking my campus with love

Overtaking my campus with love

I realized that it is the young people who change the world because they are the ones who determine the cultural and philosophical thought of the future, and the tremendous importance of CARP is to substantially realize God’s original dream, vision, and hope of fostering a culture of heart.

CARP has changed my life

CARP has changed my life

My relationship with God is so much stronger now, and the relationships I have with others around me are better. CARP has changed my life and the lives of those around me. With the current social climate surrounding American colleges, I hope that CARP can be a place where different people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, faiths, and more can come together for the sole purpose of uniting, loving, and living for the sake of others.

MLK and the Heart of Service: 40 Days Recap

CARP Bay Area concluded a successful MLK 40 Days of Service from January 18 to February 27, 2021.

During the 40 Days of Service, the mural team and volunteers from various organizations would meet once a week to help paint the welcome section of the mural stating: “Welcome to Sobrante Park.” Each service day, a group of 15 to 20 volunteers would show up early in the morning ready to contribute to beautifying the wall. Many times while painting the wall, passersby would stop and express their utmost gratitude for our service and also want to learn how they can begin to plug in and contribute to the project. It was an incredible feeling seeing the face of true joy and gratitude from the community.

CARP Las Vegas and the 10 Day Retreat

CARP Las Vegas and the 10 Day Retreat

On May 30, 2020, CARP Las Vegas concluded our ten-day virtual workshop, an endeavor utilizing our full investment. Our tradition has been to hold a similar workshop twice a year to end each semester together, but this semester our workshop was more important than ever before. With the many challenges facing our society and world, CARP wanted to be a source of inspiration and hope for all of our members, and it was vital that we could end the semester strongly. Through the hard work of the core members of CARP LV and through the participation and efforts of all of the attendees, the first ten-day workshop of CARP LV was a complete success.
