CARP Bay Area hosts Mid-semester UP Retreat

On October 31st to November 3rd, CARP Bay Area spent our Halloween weekend at our well-anticipated three day Unification Principle (UP) Retreat out at Oakhorse Ranch in Valley Springs. The retreat was co-hosted by Family Federation for a Heavenly USA and CARP with the theme “Discover Your True Value.” This retreat gave us, as students, the opportunity to step back from school and our regular day-to-day activities to focus on nurturing our hearts and discovering our life’s true value and purpose.

On October 19th, CARP Las Vegas hosted a one day retreat with the theme, “You Are Worth More.” There were four new guests, two community members, and ten CARP members in attendance. 

In preparation for their upcoming Campus Talk event, the theme was to convey the message that the lives we live are meant to be so much more than what we can imagine.

Bay Area Retreat Series: September UP Seminar

On September 28th, we kicked off on our first weekend Unification Principles (UP) Seminar of the semester. The purpose of this retreat was to more deeply study and understand CARP’s founding principles and learn how to incorporate those into our life.

The UP Seminar was held at the Principled Academy in San Leandro, and a total of 17 participants came to engage in activities, discussions, and learning.

From September 20th to 21st, CARP Las Vegas held their first two day retreat for this semester. For the first time, instead of inviting a guest speaker, CARP members gave the presentations during the retreat. With Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon (Mother Moon), Founder of  CARP, placing a strong emphasis on the education of youth, CARP Las Vegas’s Director, Mr. Akira Watanabe, felt it was time for the students to practice becoming educators and to achieve a level of proficiency by the time they graduate.

On September 19th, 2019, CARP University of Bridgeport (UB) and Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) co-hosted an event, Sing for Peace, in the UB Student Center with 60 people in attendance. As a university with strong ties to the United Nations and 20 percent of the student body from over 80 different countries, Sing for Peace’s purpose was to promote worldwide harmony and peace with musical expression.

Kicking Off the New School Year with Momentum!

To prepare for another semester of standing for the Principled Perspective on campuses, student leaders from around the country were invited to join “Momentum: Student Leader Training” retreat hosted by the National Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP).

This year, two Momentum retreats took place back-to-back on the East Coast (from August 4 to August 7 in Barrytown, NY) and the West Coast (from August 9 to August 11 in Los Angeles, CA). By providing two locations with different dates, we served over 100 participants with an experience that empowered leaders to feel confident and prepared for the semester.

Abbreviated News: CARP and HARP Utah Kick Off the Summer with Retreat

On June 15th and 16th, the CARP and HARP chapters in Salt Lake City, Utah hosted a two-day retreat focusing on the theme, One Family Under God.

The retreat included college, high school and middle school-aged participants with the local Utah Family Church at Deer Creek Reservoir. They enjoyed activities like boating, fishing and an evening devotional that helped them to reconnect with Heavenly Parent.

Abbreviated News: From the Midwest Retreat With Love

From May 17th to 19th, the Midwest CARP chapters held a retreat in Benton Harbor, Michigan, with the theme, “Leaving a Legacy of Love”. Nineteen participants came to join the retreat.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Robert Beebe, flew in from New Jersey to give three presentations from the CARP Curriculum: Education, Love and Sexuality, and Marriage and Family. From the presentations, participants deepened their understanding about the value and importance of families.
