Abbreviated News: CARP Bay Area Gives Thanks for the Semester

On Friday, December 7th, CARP Bay Area held an End-of-Semester Gratitude Celebration to conclude the Fall 2018 Semester with students and their families. It was a wonderful, festive evening together as a community that felt like an extended family.

“What I learned in CARP was that education is important, but not just the education we receive in school. It’s not just the science classes I have to take or the public speaking courses, but the education of heart. And that’s something that CARP has provided me with this whole semester.” - Monica Schlaepfer

On Sunday, November 18th, CARP LA participated in an event hosted by the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) in partnership with Bishop Noel Jones and the City of Refuge in Gardena, CA.

This year, CARP LA helped with outreach to different churches to invite them to this year’s event titled Christianity in Crisis. CARP LA’s involvement was part of practicing CARP’s values of bringing people together and going beyond ethnic, racial, religious, and denominational lines. I Left My Heart Behind in Midwest CARP

I Left My Heart Behind in Midwest CARP

From October 29th to November 4th, Jinil Fleischman and myself took a tour to four different CARP chapters in the Midwest. Our intention was to see the chapters and campuses firsthand, join activities, meet members and faculty advisors, and provide any support needed.

We started in Columbus, Ohio, and then drove to Indianapolis, Indiana, then to Grand Rapids, Michigan with a brief stop in Benton Harbor, and finally ended in Chicago, Illinois.

The trip was a deep experience. We gained new insights into what CARP is doing really well in the Midwest and how better to support them. We are so proud of each one of these unique chapters and students. Their passion, their love, and their heart all contribute to the movement of CARP.

Chapter Leader Spotlight: Marcus Orlando Fuller, Jr.

Chapter Leader Spotlight: Marcus Orlando Fuller, Jr.

My name is Marcus Orlando Fuller Jr and I'm a CARP Las Vegas member. I think many people exaggerate when they say that “so and so saved my life”. Still, I think that's the only way to describe the immense and deep impact that CARP has had on me. Over the last two years, I have had countless other experiences with the CARP members, each one showing me time and time again that the culture we have in CARP is one of family and love. Even though I have an older sister and three younger brothers, I believe that once I met CARP, I finally understood what it meant to have a family.
