Student Spotlight: Mia Taguchi

I had always been very ambitious growing up. My greatest desire in life was to change the world and contribute to world peace. I never really knew how I would do it, but I knew it was something I deeply valued. Being surrounded by the CARP members in Las Vegas sparked a desire in me to come back and continue to support the work that CARP was doing.

To do so meant leaving behind my family, my community, and the college I was looking forward to attending in Maryland. I had no idea what exactly being a part of CARP would entail, but there was an undeniable gut feeling that led me to go against many of the desires of those around me to stay in Maryland. There was no doubt that I could do the work of God while I was home, but I could not deny that there was something uniquely precious about the work that was being done in Las Vegas.

Chapter Leader Spotlight: Takafumi Mashiko

As a chapter leader of CARP, one motto that I kept to myself at heart is that the best leader shows by example rather than words. Perhaps it’s because I have challenged myself and have gone through a trying path, that for some reason it’s so easy for me to fall in love with people. When I see a person going out of their comfort zone, even for one second, because I know the challenge behind it, I find deep appreciation towards that person.

I’m grateful to be part of CARP, and my time in CARP has most definitely shaped who I am today. I was able to learn on a deeper level the heart of God and the heart of my brothers and sisters. My life is for the better, and I’m proud to have been part of CARP.

Chapter Leader Spotlight: Josue Kisile

For me personally, it’s not about increasing the membership of CARP; it’s about how many people can I love today? How many relationships can I create today? Can they feel the authenticity of God’s love through me? Those are my main concerns every time I am on campus.

The biggest lesson I have learned from being in CARP is that the most effective formula for happiness is to give it to others. I have learned that only through raising others can I truly grow.

CARP Cultivates Hope in Las Vegas

On Presidents’ Day weekend, the Las Vegas chapters of CARP hosted a 3-day Divine Principle workshop for students.

Presenter Noah Ross conveyed a simple but consistent message: all change begins with oneself. Change yourself to change the world. Mr. Ross stressed how important it is both to give truth and to create an environment where people can share their lives with each other and truly feel cared for.

He encouraged everyone to remember the essential purposes of the Unification movement: to seek, to find, and to love our long-lost brothers and sisters, and in so doing, to grow together and become people who can create a good world in which God feels truly welcome, loved, and free.

Alumni Series: Satomi Kikuchi, Making the Most Out of CARP

My name is Satomi Kikuchi. I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology-Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Exercise. CARP only became an official club at CSULA for my final year as a student, but because I’ve been able to stay involved as an alumni, I’ve been with CARP for about a year and a half now.

As CARP CSULA grew bigger and I became more involved and had more opportunities to witness the impact CARP had on people’s lives, my perspective about it changed completely and my motivation for being involved became more personal. I saw so much beauty in the genuine relationships CARP students create among each other based on honest and open conversations about things that matter. I realized just how valuable it is to have a place where students can voice their own opinions about things that are important to them.

My name is Samuel Tamura. I am a first year student studying Physiology at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis).

CARP has brought me an immense joy and conviction to work hard with my life of faith and with my education, and I want to share the organization and truth that drives me every day. Knowing that I am influencing my fellow CARP members to think deeper within themselves and about these topics continues to excite my conviction to go forward with my efforts.

Meet Jeffrey Silerio, CARP Las Vegas Alumni! He joined CARP in Las Vegas in August of 2014 (when it started!) until he graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in December of 2015. He has been involved with an affiliate organization, Shine City Project, to clean-up and serve Las Vegas.

“Even though Las Vegas is located in a desert, there is a lot of natural beauty in this area. We can feel God’s love when we go outdoors to places such as Mt. Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead, and Wetlands Park. Las Vegas is much more than its casinos and hotels. We want to show others that we care for Las Vegas, and that Las Vegas is our home. ”

Utah CARP & HARP Winter Retreat 2018

On December 28th and 29th, the CARP and HARP chapters in Salt Lake City, Utah, hosted a two-day retreat focusing on the theme, Living a Principled Life.

The retreat included college, high school, and middle school aged participants with activities like ice skating, team sports, and a song session encompassing the spirit of CARP’s founders, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.

From December 26 to January 1 (2019!), CARP LA hosted their annual Turning Point Workshop at the International Peace Education Center (IPEC) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

About 100 high school and college students attended this week-long deep dive into Unification Principle. While most attendees were from Los Angeles, few came from New Jersey, Indiana, Las Vegas, and Bay Area.

I realized throughout my life I felt so much love, but how many times did I really give that love to people and express gratitude toward God and Jesus? Find Your Purpose, Change Your Life with Midwest CARP

On December 21-23, the CARP chapters from the Midwest, Grand Rapids, Chicago, and Indianapolis, collaborated to host a winter CARP retreat at Camp KOHOE in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This retreat was a follow up from the Spring Retreat. The theme of the winter event was “Find Your Purpose, Change Your Life” with the focus being on the Three Life Goals.
